PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To early accurately detect clogging of material in a vent and to continuously operate by installing a light emitting unit and a light receiving element of a transmission type photosensor adjacently to an upper cover of a bent baffle as an indirect type distance measuring unit. SOLUTION: In the continuous kneader, a screw 8 in a cylinder 7 is rotated, thermoplastic resin is melted and kneaded to form a melt kneading region 5, and melt kneaded material is moved rightward. A vent 3 for exhausting gas or steam generated from the kneaded resin is disposed on the way of an upper wall of the region 5 in a lengthwise direction. A suction line 6 and a vent baffle 2 are provided on the vent 3. A light emitting unit 11 and a light receiving unit 12 of a transmission type photosensor are adjacently installed as a vent clogging detector 1 at a cover of the baffle 2. Accordingly, clogging of material in the vent 3 can be early accurately detected which has been heretofore difficult, and continuous operation of the kneader can be performed. |
