PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device in which the load of image pickup operation is relieved, an image pickup area is set with a simple configuration and an image of an object is picked up. SOLUTION: A pointer (index ray) is projected in the middle of an object 10 from projection means 21, 24. An image of an object is formed on an image pickup element 25 and an image signal of the object is obtained from a signal processing circuit 28. The image signal is analyzed by a pattern recognition processing means 32 and an object area is identified. An optical system control means 35 and an electronic zoom means 31 are controlled and an image pickup field angle is set so that a rate of the object area shared in a recording area is a prescribed value or a setting value by a photographer through pattern recognition processing. When the image pickup field angle is set to a desired state, information in a recording area in the image pickup signal is stored in a memory 34. Through the constitution above, since the object is focused by the projection of the pointer, it is not required to seek an object through a finder and the operability is much improved. |
