PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carrier excellent in adhesion to the core material of the carrier, having shock and wear resistances, excellent in antifouling property to a toner, and having a very long service life, by forming a resin coating layer contg. a specified polyester compd. as an essential component on a core material. SOLUTION: This carrier has a resin coating layer contg. a polyester compd. represented by the formula as an essential component on the core material. In the formula, R1 is a 1-20C alkyloxy, allyl or aryloxy, R2 is a 1-20C alkyl or aryl, Y is isocyanato or isothiocyanato and (m) is 30-10,000. Particles obtd. by dispersing a powdery magnetic material in a bonding resin are used as the core material. The polyester compd. is synthesized by allowing polyester resin as starting material to react with an isocyanate or isothiocyanate in the presence of an interphase transfer catalyst. |
