PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift control device of an automatic transmission for vehicle which can carry out the down-shifting securely as to the operating of a manual shift operating body, even through the upper limits gear of a prescribed forward traveling range is being prohibited. SOLUTION: Even when the accomplishment of the upper limit gear stage of a prescribed forward traveling range is prohibited by an upper limit gear stage prohibiting means, the down-shifting to the gear stage one stage lower than the upper limit gear stage is carried out by a manual down-shift control means 94, when the down-shift to the upper limit side gear stage is instructed by operating a manual shift operating body (a shift lever 72 or an O/D switch), and as a result, a down speed change is carried out securely responding to the operation of the manual shift operating body, and the feeling of physical disorder given to the driver is eliminated. |
