摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold the image formation surface of a liquid crystal light valve speedily at an optimum operation temperature and to display an excellent image in a short time even in low-temperature environment by detecting the temperature nearby the liquid crystal light valve and controlling the heat generating capacity of a transparent conductive film according to the detected value. SOLUTION: Heater elements 18 to 20 formed of transparent conductive films are provided nearby liquid crystal panels (liquid crystal light valve) 12 to 14 on the optical path from a light source 1, a fan 22 for cooling the light source is provided nearby the light source 1, and a fan 23 for cooling the liquid crystal panels is provided nearby the liquid crystal panels 12 to 14. Then a control part controls the cooling capacity of the light source cooling fan 22 according to the temperature nearby the light source 1 detected by a temperature detector 24 and also controls the cooling capacity of the liquid crystal panel cooling fan 23 according to the temperature nearby the liquid crystal panels 12 to 14 detected by temperature detectors 25 to 27. Consequently, deterioration, etc., of a projection image due to a temperature drop of the liquid crystal panels and the temperature gradient in the liquid crystal panels is prevented to stably project an excellent image.</p>
