<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate no thermal destruction even at the time of high frequency lighting driving without changing the size of outer dia. by making the surface area of lead wire for the connection between an outer positive electrode terminal to be connected to a power supply and a positive electrode to be a specified size. SOLUTION: A positive discharge electrode 4 in which mercury 5 and rare gas are sealed in its glass tube 2 has an end protruding from an end of the tube 2 by a specified size. To the electrode 4, i.e., tungsten rod tip two upper and lower lead wires are superposedly spot welded. The surface area of the wire 11 is made larger than the surface area fixed by the current capacity resistant to the short-circuit current at the time of increasing the pressure of electrode. Accordingly, a rise in the temp. in a holder generated by the surface effect at the time of high frequency lighting driving can be restrained, and oxidation of adhesive fixing the wire 11 and deterioration in a sealing 0ring can be prevented.</p> |
