PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide prediction efficiency equal to prediction from plural images by the same pixel transfer rate as the prediction from one image by alternately turning only one to a prediction signal by a picture element unit without adding the pixel values of both images in bidirectional inter-image prediction. SOLUTION: Moving image signals supplied from an image input terminal 1 are stored in an image memory 2 and also supplied to a switch 4 and an image type controller 7. The image type information of the image type controller 7 is outputted to the switches 4 and 11 and an encoder 5. In a prediction subtractor 3, the prediction signals supplied from a picture element switch 10 are subtracted from B frame signals supplied from the image memory 2 and prediction remainder signals are supplied to the switch 4. The input image signals and the prediction remainder signals are passed through the encoder 5 and outputted from a code output terminal 6. Reproducing images are obtained in an I frame and supplied to the image memory 12. For output thinned to a half in pixel thinning devices 8 and 9, the same pixel umber as the original images is obtained by alternately performing selection. |
