A bicycle tyre inner tube is formed by welding together the ends of a length of tubing and in the region of the weld the tube is embossed with information relating to the size and type of the inner tube. Pref the ends of the tube are held during welding by a pair of welding jaws which also have an engraved surface to effect embossing, and pref the surfaces of the welding jaws are coated with non-stick material/eg PTFE, silicone oil or talc) to prevent the tube from sticking to the jaws.
