The paper web is wound onto a drum and has a rip band formed by a multiple folded paper strip (1) whose adjoining layers (10,11,12) are stuck together at least in parts. The two side areas of the strip can be bent round several times and can be folded to one or both sides. The two side edges of the strip can be set in the middle of the rip band. The two side areas of the strip can be bent to one side and overlap so that the two side edges of the strip are in the area of the two side edges of the rip band. An insert formed by a further paper band can be stuck between the at least two layers of the paper strip .
