<p>A seal or packing fitted at a rotary machine shaft passing through the wall of a pressure tank has a moulded component fitting about the shaft, a seat part for seating the moulded component at the presure tank, the seat part being shaped complementary to the moulded component, and a projection at the shaft that bears on the side of the moulded component furtherst away from the seat part. The moulded component is made of low-friction material, e.g. PTFE a nylon, opt contg. an inert filler. Reliable seal against leakage along the shaft, long serviced life and low maintenance (i.e. adjusting) cost is obtd. The prod. is inexpensive to mfr.</p> |
