<p>Agitator for mill to produce dispersions of solids in liquids uses a grinding aggregate which is added, such as sand or beads of any sort, and is contained in vessel where it is mounted on a shaft. It consists of one or more disc shaped elements which has (have) a diagonal shoulder projecting upwards and downwards across the disc. The rim around the disc is raised with respect to the disc level both upwards and downwards. The shoulders can be located on only one disc, and can reduce in width from centre to edge. That on one side is radially offset from that on the other esp. by 90 degrees. Conventional mills of this kind have the problem that they cause severe abrasion of the walls but have little grinding between discs. The agitator mentioned gives much more uniform action by avoiding laminar flow between the discs. Used for preparing suspensions such as pigments, creams, chemicals, etc.</p> |
