A lighting device for cars has several miniature light bulbs distributed over its surface. The device has at least one section which is inclined in relation to the plane at right angles to the main radiation direction. The miniature bulbs in this/these section(s) are located so that their radiation direction differs from the main radiation direction. At least one deflecting element is assigned to at least one of these bulbs through which at least part of its/their light can be deflected, so that the light can be seen in the main radiation direction or in another necessary direction. The bulbs in this/these section(s) are located so that their main radiation direction is approximately at right angles to a tangential plane to the section(s).
