Optical time domain reflectometer for measurement in optical networks with currently applied traffic signals

In an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) for the measurement in optical networks with currently applied traffic signals a switchable filter device (8, SWF) is positioned before the detector unit (9, APD) for the measurement of the reflected optical signals caused by an optical measurement section. The filter device shows an optical path (22) into which one or more optical filters (24) can be inserted reversibly, e.g. with an actuator (25). Communication signals present on the measurement section are attenuated by the filter(s) and the detector unit is able to detect the reflected signals undisturbed from the communication signals to the greatest possible extent.
