The parts of a mattress base that can be inclined are moved by a single motor (2). This acts on a pivoting lever (4) which is joined to one part (6) of the mattress base by a support (10) that has an inverted V-shape. The mattress base rests on one branch (10a) of the support and the lever is joined to the end of its other branch (10b). A rack (14) is articulated (13) on a post (12) that is fixed to the support. A mobile lockable bar (15) moves in the rack and is articulated (16) on the other part (5) of the mattress base.
