Tear test arrangement with automatic error recognition in picture or image processing

The tear test arrangement includes one or several image recording units, a test medium application and collection arrangement, and an image processing unit which evaluates the recorded images through sampling and recognizing of coloured tear error indications, and which outputs different signals in response to evaluation logic. Several, if necessary movable, image recording units, e.g. cameras, video cameras, are provided, whose geometric arrangement, focus, and function can be tested through sensors. Lighting arrangements with intensity measuring sensor are provided for better contrast and/or for fluorescence generation. A test device is provided for examining functionality of test fluid, which produces a signal corresponding to measurement of test medium. The signals of the test units are preferably supplied to an automatic self-test and function supervision arrangement, which compares these with predetermined data. The self-test arrangement outputs corresponding signals which are supplied to a display or monitor, a documentation device, e.g. optical or magnetic storage, or printer, and/or to an arrangement for changing operation parameters, such as lighting intensity, image recording unit alignment, a focus, etc.
