An adjustable speed wrench consists of a fixed jaw and a movable jaw, respective end of which includes an arc R to form the angle theta , a spring setting between the jaws, a wrench body disposed of a recess for fitting a latch which comprises a pusher and a pivoted block for latching the movable jaw. A shift knob connected with a side of the pusher passes through a slot formed at the recess so as to reciprocate the pusher by means of moving the knob along the slot. An operator can use the adjustable speed wrench with single hand just by pushing the knob, force the jaws against the cap of a bolt in any size, and then the bolt cap would be clamped rapidly, say, within 0.1 sec. As the longitudinal recess is disposed of with an angle beta related to the direction normal to sliding track of the movable jaw, the greater a torque applied to the wrench, the tighter the jaws clamp the blot cap.
