PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent migration of a low molecular component in a thermal transfer smooth layer to the surface of a heat resistant smooth layer so as to provide a thermal transfer recording medium having the heat resistant smooth layer capable of normal printing by providing an oil repellent layer as the heat resistant smooth layer in a thermal transfer recording medium having a thermal transfer layer on one face of a substrate, and a heat resistant smooth layer on the other face. SOLUTION: In a thermal transfer recording medium 1 to be used in thermal-transfer recording of a character or an image using a thermal head, a thermal transfer layer 3 is provided on one face of a substrate 2, and an oil repellent layer 41 is provided as the heat resistant smooth layer on the other face. As the oil repellent layer 41 to be contained in the heat resistant smooth layer, which is provided for preventing transfer of a low molecular component in the thermal transfer layer 3, such as a wax, to the heat resistance smooth layer surface, silicon fluoride, and a mixture including silicon fluoride and a silicon oil or a silicon resin can be used. Into the oil repellent layer 41, one or two kinds of silica and silicon powders can be added so as to roughen the heat resistant smooth layer surface and provide a function of cleaning the thermal head. |
