The respiration aid consists of an inhalation branch (2) linked at its intake end to a gas pressure source (1) and at its outlet end to the breathing passages of the patient. It has first (9) and second (3) exhalation valves which are closed during the inhalation phase, and a detector (10) for the patient's respiratory activity, transmitting data to a control unit (12). The control unit governs the flow of gas so that the inhalation branch receives a flow during the exhalation phase which is more or less equal to the flow delivered at the end of the preceding inhalation phase. The respiration aid incorporates a second pressurised gas source (4) and a distributor (8) in the form of an electrically-operated valve, while the detector is in the form of a pressure sensor. |
