PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reliable and inexpensive enzyme electrode without being influenced by hematocrit in blood samples and with high reliability by dispersing microparticles which contain and enzyme in a water-soluble polymer into the matrix of an electroconductive microparticle layer. SOLUTION: This electrode 1, which is not influenced by blood hematocrit by keeping the ratio of microparticles 13 which contact with erythrocytes 2 in a blood sample 3 low, is obtained by (1) forming an electroconductive layer 11 such as a lead wire on an insulated support 10 such as a glass epoxy substrate using carbon paste and silver paste, (2) coating on it a mixed/dispersed liquid that was prepared by adding a phosphate buffer that contains an enzyme (e.g. peroxidase) and a water-soluble polymer (e.g. dextran), to a hydrophobic solvent that was mixed/dispersed with electrocoductive microparticles, and by blending with a mixer, and (3) drying the electrode at a temperature (20-60 deg.C) that does not inactivate the enzyme, wherein the microparticles 13 which comprise the water-soluble polymer containing the enzyme are dispersed in voids in the matrix of an electroconductive microparticle layer 12. |
