<p>A composite forming fabric in which the independent weave structures of the paper and machine side layers are interconnected by pairs of intrinsic weft binder yarns. Each member of the pair in sequence interweaves with contiguous constant length segments of the paper side layer weave structure and occupies a non-disruptive unbroken path in that weave. Within each segment, one member interweaves with the warps of the paper side layer and the other member interweaves with at least one warp of the machine side layer, thereby binding the two layers together. The interweaving of the pair of binder wefts repeats with the overall weave repeat pattern of the composite fabric. The paper side layer is typically woven as a plain weave, and the machine side layer is typically woven as a four-shed twill, a four- or eight-shed repeat satin, or an eight-shed/eight repeat satin, all commonly woven using eight sheds. This arrangement overcomes the paper side layer surface imperfections, which cause an unacceptable level of marking, hitherto associated with intrinsic weft binder yarns in composite fabrics.</p> |
