In a device for point initiation of a non-sensitive plastic-bonded explosive charge having an initial charge which is conventionally ignited at the end remote from the charge to be initiated, the initial charge (4) consists of a relatively sensitive explosive and tapers, in the propagation direction of the detonation wave front, to a diameter (d) of 4 /!0.2 mm at the junction with the non-sensitive charge. Preferably, the initial charge (4) consists of 88-94% high explosive (preferably octogen or hexogen), /}8 (preferably 6)% resin binder and 1-11 (preferably 2-5)% retardant.
