The plate warmer comprises a tray (1) with twin bowls, one for hot food (3) and the other (30) for cold food. The tray base (6) is made of plastics. The hot food bowl (3) accepts a cover (2), and has an aluminium lining (19). The cover as an external envelope (22) made of plastics and lined with aluminium (23). An intermediate element (24) is placed in the centre of the cover, between outer envelope and lining. This element can be heated externally by a magnetic induction heater, and heat is transferred to the lining to be evenly spread over the inside of the cover. The cover lining makes contact (126) with the aluminium layer in the bowl.
