PURPOSE:To enhance compression ignition performance by providing a control mechanism for controlling the load of an engine and the temperature of intake air, by which the current generated by a generator is supplied to an air heater for heating the intake air of the engine. CONSTITUTION:In accordance with the load output current of a generator D, the current generated by the generator D is supplied to an air heater 6 for heating the intake air of an engine. By detecting the variation in the engine speed, whether or not the supplied fuel is a low cetane-number fuel is detected, and only when a low cetane-number fuel is supplied, the temperature of intake air is controlled by a controller C on the basis of the engine load and engine speed. Thus, the temperature of intake air is raised and compression ignition performance can be enhanced. |
