PURPOSE:To simplify constitution by outputting chrominance components based on phase signals in different huse and level signals expressing elements in colors other than the hues. CONSTITUTION:A phase selector 14 inputs color code signals from a color generator 11, selects one type among 12 types of phase signals, and transmits it to gate circuits 19-1-19-4. If a decoder 15 selects the gate circuit 19-1, low level signals are impressed on one input terminals of NAND circuits 20 and 21 in the gate circuit 19-1, and high level are impressed on the other input terminals of the NAND circuits 20 and 21 in the remaining gate circuits 19-2-19-4. As a result a signal outputted from an output terminal 22 is a phase signal that has a prescribed phase and converted into a signal with amplitude that oscillates by the voltage levels V1 and V2, and the signal turns out to be a chrominance component at a voltage level where the central level of the amplitude expresses brightness.
