PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preclude the effect of jitters synchronized with the rotation of a drum by performing a highly accurate tracking control which is not affected by the error of the rotational phase of a rotary drum. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a refference signal generator 23 generating the refference signal 7 of the rotational phase of a rotary frum 9, a phase detecting and processing means 11 outputting drum phase error signal 16 by comparing the refference signal 7 with the phase of the rotational position detection signal 8 of the rotary drum 9 and a time interval measuring and processing means 13 outputting a tracking error signal 17 by measuring the time interval between a tracking detection signal 2 from a reproduced signal and a rotational position detection signal 8. Then, a tracking control signal 20 in which the time base fluctuation component of the rotary drum is eliminated is generated by controlling the rotational phase of the rotary drum 9 with the drum phase error signal 16 and by performing the correction processing of the tracking error signal 17 from the time base interval measuring and processing means 13 with the drum phase error signal 16.
