<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert a sub-picture use video signal into coded data according to a precribed format. SOLUTION: A sub-picture use video signal Ss reproduced by a VTR(video tape rearder) is given to a variable length coder 11, and a reproduction time code TC is given to a time coder reader 12. A time code discriminated by the time code reader 12 is fed to a computer 13. The computer 13 compares sub picture coding instruction data Dc received in advance with a time code from the time code reader 12 to discriminate a timing when the coding of the sub-picture use video signal Ss is executed and to control the variable length coder 11. The variable length coder 11 applies variable length coding to the sub-picture use video signal Ss to convert it into sub picture use code data.</p> |
