Nozzle for in situ cleaning of falling film evaporators

A cleaning nozzle for cleaning falling film evaporators is housed in a cylindrical body (2) which fits into a tube of the evaporator. Cleaning fluid is fed in through an opening (4) in the base (3) of the body and is distributed through the nozzle head (5). The head itself moves up in use (as shown) and down when not in use, to be more or less flush with the end (46) of the casing. An intermediate piece (23,24) allows the nozzle to rise-and-fall by a certain extent by the path of a lug in a slot (28). When the cleaning nozzle is in position in the top of a vertical bundle of tubes it can be used to clean the liquid feed chamber above and the liquid distribution grill.
