PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a navigation apparatus which prevents a voice from being output excessively to a voice output medium by a method wherein, according to a change in a state related to a vehicle, information is output to either the voice output medium or a display output medium. SOLUTION: On the basis of position information from a GPS antenna 11 and on the basis of map information from a CD-ROM changer 19, a navigation controller 17 retrieves a proper route up to a destination which is designated by an operator, and it performs a guidance operation by a display on a display 8 and by a voice output from a loudspeaker for voice guidance. At this time, the provision of unneccessary or excessive information (especially voice information) is suppressed. In addition, even when a plurality of pieces of voice information are generated simultaneously, it is reguired to select only one piece of voice information, and the piece of information is selected on the basis of the order of priority of information itself and on the basis of the importance of information. In addition, when the plurality of pieces of voice information compete, the pieces of information which are erased are displayed on the display 8 to the effect. |
