PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber composition comprising an elastomer having a specific composition, a filler comprising precipitated silica and carbon black, and a coupler for the silica, excellent in strength and abrasion resistance and useful for tires having treads. SOLUTION: This rubber composition comprises (a) 100 pts.wt. (phr) of elastomers comprising (i) 50-98phr of an elastomer selected from isoprene polymer, 1,3-butadiene polymer, their copolymer, and a isoprene-1,3-butadiene-styrene orα-methylstyrene terpolymer and (ii) 2-50phr of a triblock elastomer having an arrangement of the formula: A-B-A and composed from terminal polystyrene hard segments A and an inner dienic elastomer soft segment B, (b) 20-150phr of a filler comprising particulate precipitated silica and carbon black, containing the silica in an amount of 10-100phr and having a silica/carbon black weight ratio of 1/1, and (c) a coupler for the silica. |
