<p>A swinging/sliding door for vehicles includes at least one door leaf; a support rail fixedly mounted in the vehicle for supporting the door leaf; a carriage longitudinally slidably mounted on the support rail; a pivotable support mechanism, possibly forming an articulated parallelogram, for connecting the door leaf to the carriage; a guide rail fixedly mounted in the vehicle, wherein a guide pin connected to an element of the support mechanism travels in the guide rail and determines the angular position of the support mechanism; a linear drive for effecting the movement of the door leaf or carriage along the support rail, wherein the linear drive acts on an engagement point of the carriage. The engagement element for the carriage is moveable between two positions, wherein one position corresponds to the outwardly swung, open position of the door leaf and the other position corresponds to the inwardly swung, closed position of the door leaf, and wherein the movement of the engagement element from one position to the other position causes a torque to act on a hinge point of the support mechanism on the side of the carriage for effecting the inward and outward movements or for at least substantially reinforcing the movements.</p> |
