<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the occupant restriction device which does not stepwise classify the seating position and weight of an occupant, and the degree of collision, but adjusts the inner pressure of an air bag properly based on an increase or a decrease in each value of items as mentioned above, and can thereby expand the air bag. SOLUTION: A control device 19 controls a cushioning distance Ln so that it is kept constant, which is equivalent to the contraction of an air bag when the expanded air bag 11 comes in contact with an occupant M so as to be compressed. First, the control device 19 picks up data on acceleration experienced by the occupant M in response to the degree of collision based on a signal from an acceleration sensor 15. The control device 19 computes the proper inner pressure of the air bag 11 by the use of a balancing conditional formula on speed, distance and force in accordance with its acceleration, a distance L1 from the air bag 11 before its expansion to the head and chest part H of the occupant based on a signal from a distance sensor 13, and the weight of the head and chest part of the occupant based on a signal from a weight sensor 14, and a gas generating device 12 is controlled so that the pressure of gas is controlled so as to be equal to the computed pressure.</p> |
