DEODOORIZING CATALYST AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorizing catalyst in which adsorption amount at normal temperature is plenty and oxidative destruction activity at time of heating is high and heat resistance is high. SOLUTION: The deodorizing catalyst is obtained by adding activated carbon to the solution of an organic solvent of an alkoxy compound containing at least one element selected from among silicon, aluminum, titanium or zirconium and adding the organic compound of manganese or the aqueous solution of inorganic salt to the above-mentioned solution and thereafter gelatinizing the solution and performing burning. At least one part of the surface of activated carbon is covered with oxide derived from the alkoxy compound containing manganese oxide. Oxide derived from the alkoxy compound is silica and weight ratio of manganese oxide and silica is desirably 1:(5-1).
