A process for enclosing industrial waste for stabilisation before storage involves: (a) separating the waste into coarse and fine fractions using a 16-50 (preferably 20-31.5) mm mesh sieve; (b) mixing the fine fraction with a waste-compatible mortar having a low porosity of less than 20 (preferably less than 15)%; and (c) pouring the mixture into shuttering, adding any coarse waste fraction and allowing to set to obtain a solid block enclosing the waste. Also claimed is a block obtained by the above process.
