The smart card has a flat base (1) with an integrated circuit (2) mounted on one face. The conductor network (3) associated with the integrated circuit is also on the surface of the card, and is covered with a protective varnish coating (6). To ensure that the cards stack evenly, a number of raised ridges (10) are formed on the same surface of the card as carries the integrated circuit. The ridges are made of the same material as the protective coating on the integrated circuit. They are in the shape of elongated bars, circular studs or square blocks. They are shaped to form Braille writing or as an arrow indicating the direction of insertion of the card. |
