The window has a frame, which comprises a window frame member (1) and a window pane member (2). A cover (6) is arranged on the outside of the frame member, which serves as a shield. The cover is attached only to the frame member, and covers both the frame member and the part (7) of the pane member that would be visible from outside. The cover has a drawn out part or a bent part (8), which runs around the part of the pane member that would be visible from outside and extends as far as the window glazing (3). The cover is formed of steel, which may be 4-6 mm thick. The frame and pane members are formed as hollow sections (4,5) of plastics or a light alloy. Reinforcement pieces (11-14), which may be steel, are arranged in at least part of the hollow frame.
