Connection device for connecting pieces of furniture together

A standard metal furniture fitting is used to effect linkages of a number of different components assembled to make up the item of furniture e.g. a table. The fitting consists of a first part (1) and a second part (2) linked by a third (3). The first and third parts incorporate projections and recesses (4,7) forming interlocking grooves and spring-like linkages. The first and third parts can slide to and from each other, while remaining fixed relative to each other in the transverse plane. The second part is so fabricated that it is supported by the first part, and may be linked to the third part. The gap between the second part and the third part can be varied in the direction of support.
