PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone system which can send a message from a caller as character data to a portable telephone set if the user of the portable telephone can not answer the telephone call even when recognizing its incoming. SOLUTION: For an emergency telephone call, a base station 1 sends out a voice message prompting a message to be inserted to an opposite side, and then converts a voice signal sent from the opposite side into character data by a voice/character conversion part 11 and sends the data to the portable telephone set 2. The portable telephone set 2 once receiving the character data from the base station 1 vibrates a vibrator 24 to let the user know the incoming call, stores the received character data in an EEPROM 19, and displays the character data at a display part 20. The character data stored in the EEPROM 19 can be displayed at the display part 20 at any time by operating an operation part 21. |
