AIR PURIFYING METHOD AND COVER MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air purifying method and a cover material by which contaminants such as nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides discharged from exhaust gas of vehicle or the like can be removed and the appearance of protection walls can be improved. SOLUTION: A cover material 4 on which titanium dioxide is carried is attached to the roadway side of a protection wall 2 which is formed on the side edges of a road 1 or the like. The cover material 4 is irradiated with UV rays to activate titanium dioxide. When contaminants such as nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides come into contact with the activated titanium dioxide, the contaminants are oxidized into nitric acid or sulfuric acid and removed by strong oxidation force of the activated titanium dioxide. Since the cover material 4 is attached to the roadway side face of the protection wall 2 in the position vulnerable for exhaust gas of vehicle, the contaminants exhausted from exhaust gas easily come into contact with the cover 4 and effectively removed.
