<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a fibrous bonded sheet material that comprises a fibrous base web, a polymer binder, a resin for wet paper-strengthening agent and ketene dimer, shows excellent air permeability and is suitable as a plug wrap for filter plug of cigarettes. CONSTITUTION: A fibrous bonded sheet material, suitable for conversion into plug wrap for the filter plug in a filter cigarette, is formed by treating a fibrous base web with a polymeric binder (e.g. polyvinyl alcohol) in an amount of 0.5-10 wt.%, a wet-strength resin(for example, polyamide-polyamine-epichlorohydrin resin) in an amount of 0.03-1.5 wt.% and a ketene dimer (an alkylketene dimer) in an amount of 0.0001-0.10 wt.% based on the total weight of the dried sheet. The wet-strength resin may be wholly or partially replaced with a cross-linking agent (for example, glyoxal). The resultant sheet material exhibits favorable characteristics of air permeability with resistance to the bleed through of adhesives used in the production of wrapping filter plug material.</p> |
