PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display panel rapid responsiveness and capable of reproducing a moving image by providing a magnetic fluid close to a pixel electrode on a rear plate side. SOLUTION: The magnetic fluid 30 is separated from a front plate to exist only on the rear plate side. By that the magnetic fluid 30 is moved between an exposed surface of a light transmission area 31 of a pixel electrode 24 and the surface of the pixel electrode 24, transmission of the light passing through the light transmission area 31 controlled. Further, an interval between the front plate and the rear plate is adjusted by a spacer provided between them to the extent that the magnetic fluid 30 is not in contact with the front plate. In the case of the state that a current flows through the pixel electrode 24, and the magnetic fluid 30 is drawn toward the electrode 24, the light passes through the light transmission area 31. When the current is not impressed to the pixel electrode 24, the magnetic fluid 30 stays in the light transmission area 31 by the surface tension of the magnetic fluid 30 and the adsorption force the light transmission area 31, and light transmission is prevented. |
