A catalyst apparatus for the exhaust gal using a shape memory alloy wherein: a shape memory alloy(30) for varying the area which the exhaust gas entered from the inlet port(11) of the enlarged cylinder(10) is passed through is formed in the center of the inlet part of the cylinder(30); the exhaust gas flow rate per unit area is varied; one end of the alloy(30) is fixed to the front pipe(20) connected to the cylinder and the other end of the alloy(30) is free from the enlarged part(12) of the cylinder(10);is disclosed. Thereby, the shape memory alloy is deformed in the high temperature section to diffuse the flow of the exhaust gas from the center toward the radial direction.
