The invention concerns a bristle (12) for a toothbrush, in particular for an electric toothbrush, the bristle being made from plastics and comprising a plurality of interconnected filaments (13, 14, 15). The filaments (13, 14, 15) are wound or plaited and connected to one another by the effect of chemical agents, resulting in a rigid connection between the filaments (13, 14, 15) and reliably preventing the formation of cavities therebetween. A toothbrush is consequently produced which has a powerful cleaning effect but does not permit any intercalation of bacteria or other germs.
