The invention is a rear gate locking device for a truck providing easy opening/closing of the rear gate. The device comprises a hollow room(1') at the transverse end of the rear gate(1); an opening(1A) at the joint of the rear gate(1) and side gate(2); a shoulder(1b) to engage with a shoulder(12c) of a locking pin(12) at one end of the opening(1A); a hollow room(2') and an opening(2a) of the side gate(2); a lug(13) for a spring at the other end(2b) of the side gate(2); a shoulder(12c) to engage with the shoulder(1b) at one end of the locking pin(12); a knob(11) through a groove(11a) at a projection(12a) at the center of the rear gate(1); a spring whose one end is fitted to a lug(2c) and the other end to a projection(12b). The locking of the rear gate is released by simply pushing the knob.
