PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject medicinal agent containing a silicic acid polymer as active ingredient, having such biological function regulative effect as to restore and normalize the abnormalities of biological function developed in morbid state, thus useful for preventing/treating allergic diseases and gastritis, etc. SOLUTION: This medicinal agent contains a silicic acid polymer as active ingredient. The polymer is pref. a water-soluble silicic acid polymer 20,000-1,000,000 in molecular weight and 490-16,500 in polymerization degree, and can be obtained, for example, by dissolving a water-soluble silicate such as sodium orthosilicate, or a silicic acid-contg. substance such as water-glass in an aqueous solvent followed by adjustment to pH 2-10 and then evaporation to dryness under heating or lyophilization followed by pulverization. In this case, it is preferable that a saccharide such as lactose or mannitol is added to the resulting aqueous solution. The daily dose of this agent is normally 1μg to 10mg/adult in terms of silicic acid in one to several portions.
