PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To get rid of a special lost motion stroke for a shift operating member or to avoid it sharply in the case where at least one shift speed is made jumpable over at the time of being switched to a new shift sped from a current shift speed. SOLUTION: This shift device for a gear transmission is provided with a shift operation member 9, a selective operation member 10, an operation member 11 to be installed only shiftable in an axial direction to a housing 8, an auxiliary transmission gear 14 converting reciprocating motion into rotational motion, a damping device 13 to be connected to the selective operation member 10, and a locking device 12 capable of engagement and its release, respectively so as to interact with one another. In this constitution, two operation members 9 and 10 out of the three operation members 11, 9 and 10 are installed so as not to do their relative motions, and further they are connected to the third operation member 11 by the auxiliary transmission device 14, whereby the selective operation member 10 is locked to the housing 8 so as not to be relatively rotated or moved in the axial direction. |
