PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an aromatic ketone in which an aromatic ring is position- selectively acylated by reacting an aromatic compound substituted with a nitrogen-containing heterocycle with carbon monoxide and olefins. SOLUTION: A compound of the formula III or IV, e.g. 1-[2-(2-pyridinyl) phenyl]-1-propanone is obtained by reacting a compound of the formula I (R<1> is 2-pyridyl; R<2> and R<3> are each H, an alkyl, an alkoxycarbonyl, etc.) with carbon monoxide and a compound of the formula II (R is H or an alkyl). The reaction is performed under 1-10atm of charging pressure in using ethylene as the olefins, or using 1-5 equivalent of an olefin other than ethylene to the compound of the formula I, under 5-50atm carbon monoxide pressure at 140-200 deg.C. By the method, an efficient direct carbonylation passing through cutting a C-H bond of an aromatic ring in the formula I can be performed and a compound useful as various organic industrial products, a medicine, agrochemicals, a flavor, a polymer product, etc., or as an intermediate can be obtained in a high yield. |
