PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for a jack-up work of a structure and prevent the generation of a surplus stress on the structure and replace laminated rubber with easy and high safety work contents. SOLUTION: The surrounding area of laminated rubber 14 is covered with a thermal insulating material 16 where a jack 18 is laid out outside the rubber. The jack 18 is extended the same elevation to the laminated rubber 14 and placed into contact with both a structure 10 and a foundation 12. A cooling device 20 is operated, thereby cooling the laminated rubber 14. The laminated rubber 14 is heat-shrunken by the cooling, thereby producing a gapδbetween the structure 10 and the rubber 15. The thermal insulating material 16 is removed and the laminated rubber 14 is removed with an elevation adjustment spacer 22 so that a new laminated rubber member 14, which is preliminarily shrunken by cooling may be set up together with the spacer 22 as an occasion demand. The replaced new laminated rubber 14 is heated and heat-expanded by the rise in the temperature of the rubber and then the jack 18 is removed.
