Identification(ID) code processing circuit for a digital VCR verifies a continuation of ID code when a synchronous signal is not detected or there is an error in the ID code, corrects an error of the ID code. provides an accurate ID code, removes an error in a memory addressing of a deinterleaving by using the accurate ID code, and accurately makes a frame in a reproduction mode. The circuit includes: ID code processor(150) for a record which makes a position information of the encoded digital data as a ID code, and records the ID code on a tape; and a ID code processor(240) for reproduction which determines an error of the ID code, and corrects the error of the IC code by performing a continuation when the error of the ID code is determined.
