Auto vocal plus method and apparatus in a karaokae system select one sound between a singer's sound and an accompaniment sound recorded on a tape, and then output the selected sound. The auto vocal plus method and apparatus mix the singer's sound with the accompaniment sound, and then output the mixed sound. The apparatus checks whether the user is singing by using a micro-signal detector(104), and automatically drives an auto vocal circuit(105). The apparatus checks determines the biggest audio signal among the audio signals of A and B channels(Ach)(Bch), and generates a signal according to the determined audio signal. If the audio signal of the A channel is identical with the audio signal of the B channel, the audio signals of the channels A-B are generated via the left and right channels. If the audio signal of the A channel is different from the audio signal of the B channel, an audio signal of a channel where a big signal is detected is muted, and an audio signal of a channel where a small signal is detected are generated via the left and right channels(Lch)(Rch).
