Expansion or constructional joint for roadway or building

The interlocking profile structure may be used in a variety of structural and expansion joints in buildings, roads etc. The structure may be symmetrical about the mid line. It has two C-shaped profiles (1-3) on the outsides which have three right-angled bends so that they form two adjacent sides of a square and half of the two remaining sides. The ends (12) of the C-shapes are of increased thickness so that a reentrant profile is formed, with grooves (12) immediately behind the thickened ends. A flexible sealing profile (7) has hollow (9) arrow-shaped edges (8) which interdigitate with the C-shaped profiles. The arrow-shaped edges are linked by a flexible V-shaped bridge consisting of two straight sections (15) at a slight angle to the centreline which have grooves (16) at their ends to make flexures.
